My Cousin & Her Sweet Family

Denile

When I feel overwhelmed with work, editing, posting etc I have a strange defense mechanism.  I take photos of my kids.  For some reason it helps me focus on the huge mountain of work that needs to be done.  So here is the product of yesterdays denile fest.

Now that I got that out of the way, I promise some real posts are coming up soon!  Thanks for hanging around.

Happy Feet

Dante learned to jump this week.  He gets both feet about an 1/8 of an inch off the floor at the same time.  I love it!  I find myself jumping around the house all day just so I can see him jump.  Ok, back to the trenches.  I am working on taxes this week which is beyond depressing.  I hope I make it out of my un-organized mess alive!

How did this…

Become this…

Five years have passed in a breeze.  Now you will have to excuse me while I go hibernate under my blankets and cry.

Siesta

Today was one of those days where I got lots done but NONE of it was what I was supposed to be doing.  I should have cleaned my house for the party I am having tomorrow night.  Instead I cleaned my laundry room and the crawl storage space.  WHAT?  Yes.  The two sections of my house that no one will see tomorrow.  I also took pics of my kids and edited them while countless people wait for their edits to be done.  And now I am posting pics of my sweet baby while I have sessions from September I havent posted yet.  The human mind is a strange thing.  Mine appears to be taking a siesta.

One

Well, it’s official.  I no longer have a valid excuse for the lingering baby weight.  My baby turned one over the weekend.  I am enjoying this stage he is in to the fullest.  He is just such a sweet baby.  Here are a few pics from his 1 year birthday shoot.

Disconnected

I grew up without a tv.  I was always out of the loop when it came to Zack, Kelly and Slater and who was with who this week.  My friends felt bad for me but I never would have wanted it any other way.  I read books.  One a day.  We played lots of board games.  We ate dinner around the table as a family EVERY night.  It was a quiet and peaceful house and I LOVED it.

My husband grew up normal with a tv so it was a big deal when we got married and I had a tv for the first time in my life at 24 years old.  I was worthless for a year.  I sat in front of it and watched everything from 90’s reruns to HCTV to music videos.  I was a mess.  When my husband saw how frustrated I was with myself he agreed that it was probably best not to have it at our house and we disconnected it.  But a few years later we gave in again.  By this time we had a toddler and I realized fast that the tv was no longer a temptation for me to waste my day but instead a way that I could get more done.  Luckilly my son is a very active child and would never choose to watch tv all day instead of going outside to play so the tv has been very helpful in filling those in between times when he couldnt play outside but I couldnt be entertaining him either.

So, fastforward to a few weeks ago when my husband and I read (listened to) Dave Ramseys Total Money Makeover. ( If you dont know who this guy is, you should find out.  You can buy the MP3 on his website for 14 bucks.  Do it! It’s a very real way of getting out of debt including your house. )  One of the things he tells you do first is go thru your expenses and get rid of EVERYTHING you dont need.  We did it and only came up with two things.  One of them was the dish network.  So yesterday I called and cancelled it.  I am so excited not to have that payment every month.  Not sure how I feel about a long winter with no tv but there is redbox down the road and if it gets too bad we will just have to rent movies.

What do you all think?  Crazy or inspiring?

I am up to my ears with wedding edits so I am posting a few pics I took of my sweet nieces this summer.

Kentucky Cousins

My boys had the best time with their Kentucky cousins.  The oldest three are 10 and a half.  Yes, all of them.  And the “baby” is almost 6.  They all have southern drawls and call their grandparents strange things like Mamaw and Papaw.  (O:  I do have to say that I got a little spoiled out there.  My kids didnt want much to do with me and were completely entertained by this crew.  I cant wait to go back.
