2011

The first few weeks of January always turn me into a weirdo.  I spend the time reflecting, dissecting and projecting.  Working out the kinks in my business.  Brainstorming how I can be better, more efficient, more creative etc.  It turns me into a bit of a zombie until I have my plans in place.  Each year I welcome the desperation.  It pushes me to be on top of my game and it pushes my best ideas to the surface.  So here is to a brilliant 2011.  I have some wonderful ideas in store for you.

HOME

Every time I see a soldier I am moved to approach them and tell them how grateful I am for their service.  This has become a bit awkward considering that I live 5 miles from an army base and see up to a dozen at a time just in the produce section of the market.   For the most part I restrain myself.  So you can imagine my delight when I get a call from the creative editor of OK magazine in New York asking me if I would be willing to shoot some images for them of a wounded soldier and his family.  I nearly cried.

They had several guidelines for me to stay within so while these images may not be what I normally would shoot, I love how they turned out.  Most of all I love that these sweet children have their dad safely back at home.  See the Daily Herald write up here and see the OK magazine article in newstands nationwide now.

Brooklyn

Apparently I cant edit and post in the same week. So this past week I edited like crazy and now I guess I will be posting everyday. I bet you wish I was a little more consistent? Yeah, me too.

It was so fun to see Brooklyn again.  Didnt she do fantastic?

On a side note:  Check out my new studio wall!  Big thanks to my sweet husband for creating my every whim.  ♥

Family…extended.

July was a busy month for extended family photos.  I get asked often if I do them at all because I never post photos of them.  The reason is because it’s hard to get super creative with 35 people in a short amount of time.  But I wanted to give props to my July families.  They did the most amazing jobs on color coordinating dont you think?  I love how their colors came together.

Red, whites and blues with solids and patterns.

Pinks, blues with a little gold mixed in.

Greens, blues and yellows.

Greens and Purples.

Black, blue and white.

I’m so glad the days of matchy matchy are gone and the days of coordinating are here.  Thank you to all my great clients.

Denile

When I feel overwhelmed with work, editing, posting etc I have a strange defense mechanism.  I take photos of my kids.  For some reason it helps me focus on the huge mountain of work that needs to be done.  So here is the product of yesterdays denile fest.

Now that I got that out of the way, I promise some real posts are coming up soon!  Thanks for hanging around.
